Wow, it was really unexpected! I was going home from giving a class in Capacitia, i had barely walked about two blocks when out of the sudden 3 cholos surround me and one of them tells me "¿Que te pasa puto?", and suddenly grabs me from behind and puts a knife on my neck.
THIS happened just next to Garza Sada avenue here in Monterrey... in front of Josephino's wich is infront of the FREAKING ITESM!! ITESM? Well, that is the most respectec college in Latin America (as far as i know), sons of very important politicians and business men study there! The zone is soaring with security and Garza Sada is one of the most busy and important avenues in the city. And there... in front of EVERYTHING these three stupid guys held me at knife point, took my laptop, my cellphone and my wallet (curiously they ignored my watch, a Fossil one that my parents gave me as a college graduation present). At first i didn't realize i was being robbed... until i realized i had the blade of a knife pressing on my neck. THAT is when i lifted my arms and let them take everything.
I inmediatly ran back to Capacitia and gave the police a phone call. I reported the incident, called my parents, cancelled my debit card and was about to cancel my cellphone contract. After that my new boss paid me a taxi and i went home. Only to realize my sister was not home. That is when my best friend showed up and told me that the police had caught them and they had all my stuff back!
So we went to the police department and i wrote what had happened. Learned that the robbers were 16 years old and they gave me a medical check up. Turns out i got a cut of about 4 CMs (a bit less than 2 inches) on my neck. That adds the charge of Aggravated Assault (it is in fact an injury i suffered) besides armed robbery.
Tomorrow i will have a face to face recognition of the 3 guys, luckily my uncle is a lawyer (a rather aggresive one) and is going to be helping me in this case. I also met the father of one of the guys, he was apologizing for what his son did and was really worrie about what was going to happen to him. He asked me to reconsider what i was doing, and i really felt bad for him. BUT... i HAD a knife on my neck, i am not going to let them get away. I really feel sorry for the man, but his son was stupid and was in real danger.
Also, i am surprised about how efficient the police was! Mexican police is unreialable at best. And most people don't thrust it at all. But in this case, they had them in less than 15 minutes after i made the call. I wil be getting my stuff back in some days, i only lost a parasol and about 400 pesos in cash (around 35 dollars maybe?). This really makes me change my opinion about security in this zone of the city and how "bad" the police really is.
Anyways, i am fine. The wound ain't nothing at all. And my stuff will be returned. What a day!
See you! And thanks for coming by! ^^

Wow... that's a close call. It's excellent that you're not totally harmed (I've known dudes that have come out in real rough shape), and gettin your stuff back is great.
I'm also a little surprised that the police were so efficient. I've never been to Mexico myself, though I've heard lots of tales that they're not the most trustworthy dudes out there.
