The Goal Has Been Reached! Thanks a lot!!

Where to begin?

Well, if you have read my journals you might know that i have had a terrible year. From loosing 2 jobs due to the "economy" to being mugged by 3 idiots who cut my neck with a knife. My morale was really down, my inspiration gone and i was close to loosing the place I live in.

Then, about a week ago, Soulkat approached me with an idea for a donation drive to start working on a second webcomic. The eye is still going, but the new one is based on a donation scheme. The goal was to reach 1000 dollars, so i could pay rent and the monthly fee of my computer for at least 4 months. During this time i would be doing 2 things, keep looking for a job. And start Tina of the South. I get the commitment to do all the designs for the site and as well as several pages from the very start.

At the moment, we are only 180 dollars away from the goal that SK wants to reach. and have both agreed to make reward images when the goal is reached. I was really shocked by this, they are taking time from their busy schedules to help the project. And the goal was almost reached in a single week. I honestly am having a surprise moment here.

To be honest i really didn't expect all of this. It was the same day i posted the thread about my comissions here in the forums that SK approached me and told me we should try this. I was very skeptical about it, and i dare to say it very cinical. So i went along with SK and prepared the teaser, some sketches and a little text to go along.

Now i feel like i have to eat my own aproach to the situation, i really wasn't expecting all this interest, and i also wasn't expecting the money so fast. I do have a bit of an underdog complex that i keep pushing into my own head. I concentrate on the negative most of the time. I am really surprised and grateful at everyone. Even Chalo and Jeso who are offering prizes, and Nekonny who managed the counter and all. Special thanks to SK.

Tina of the South started with a random character i drew as a one shot character in an inked image i did several years ago to try to sell on furbid (the inked one of Tina with a cactus guy).



I have always like western movies, cowboys and armadillos in general, so i made a random texan cowgirl. To my surprise it was Auradeva ([link]) the one that bought the original inked piece and she was quite enthusiastic about the character.

Sometime later, she showed me an awesome sketch she had done of Tina . I got so inspired about that image that i made a second pic with Tina and uploaded it.



The character got quite some appeal and I got several comments that gave me ideas, it was then when i talked to Jeff. We started joking around about a sexy western story featuring the cowgirl armadillo, and not long before that we had actually made a group of female characters to go along with here, a native rattlesnake and a mexican eagle.



To our surprise we actually started working on a full set of adventures with them at the same time i was posting The Eye of Ramalach for the first year. So the project began to grow little by little on our spare time, to the point where we think we have a solid story to work with.



Tina of the South Teaser

Story:

Introducing "Tina of the South!" An exciting 'western' adventure on the miner's island of Terra Rica! This lawless region, rich in rare minerals, was the battleground of a bloody war between nations who sought the island's wealth. Now another war is taking place; between opportunistic men of power from across the globe who only want to dig up the wild land and claim the island's fortunes ultimately for themselves.

In this lawless land, bounty hunters prey on these scum by bringing order to chaos for the right price. And among them, one of the most feared is a woman named Tina Winchester. This young seductive sharpshooter is out to fight fire with fire, seeking her fortune by hunting these men for the exorbitant bounties placed on their heads by the free towns. Follow the adventures of this crackshot firebrand and her gang as she goes from a local favorite burlesque house dancer to one of Terra Rica's greatest heroes, forced into action by the scum who took her childhood, her home, and her beloved father away from her! Will this cowgirl be able to tame the wilds by selling every criminal one at a time to Terra Rica's handsome sheriff? Or will she be swept away in the desert winds, murdered far from home by a secret organization out to controlno less than the entire island itself?

The Winchester Gang:

Tina Winchester - A well known local favorite, she danced in her adopted mother's burlesque house after her father's murder. But now she's back and hunting the men who'd dare to shatter the lives of others for thier own gain. She believes in only two things; earn money by the barrel of your revolver, and make a living by the seat of your pants.

Sitala - A warrior of the native snake tribes that inhabited Terra Rica long before the miners, the settlers, or anyone else. Sitala's desire for vengeance burns deep within her soul as she wishes for nothing more than bloody retribution against those who have invaded her homeland!

Adela Maria Gonzales - This sweet and loving woman was robbed of her husband and the comfortable life that he gave her. This woman had no choice but to assume her husband's position of power in order to save the people he watched over. Her terrifying shotgun roars like lightning as she tries to hold fast against those who'd take her home time and time again.

The goal is almost reached, new art from great artists is coming and a new webcomic is about to start.
